The printed gems, the plastic wrapping of collectibles, the toys, the marker signing books and booths, the fun & reunion of industry buddies and fans, the entire vibe of comic book love and all related genres of the Sequential ARTs!!! There is no better place to feel that vibe in the month of MAY than to attend the annual ECBACC- East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention in Philly. Coming APRIL 4-25th, 2007 to Jackson State University Liberal Arts Builing Gallery is The
"OTHER HEROES" exhibit. This unique show will profile the presence of Black characters and creators in the sequential art genre.
THE CATALOGUE FOR THE EXHIBIT IS NOW ON SALE AT http://www.lulu.com/content/737106
All proceeds from the sale of the catalog will go to SCHOLARSHIP AMERICA's
disaster fund for Hurricane Katrina survivors.

RIZE UP!!!

This piece entitled "RIZE UP!" (mixed media- color pencil/gouache/watercolor/graphite & ink on ill.board) is an homage to The Clown/Krump Dance culture that has emerged from South Los Angeles. If you have not yet seen the documentary RIZE, please do so! Support this incredible film. The film inspired me to create a piece that gave homage to the energy and spirit of the dancers, while going to another level and portraying visually the feelings of hope I got from becoming aware of this new art form.
